After the Anti Delete game mod it was obvious we need a better mechanism to avoid building delete. But which one?

Vote for best idea, or if you have better but not listed, write it as a comment:
  • You try to delete a building, and it takes 20 seconds to get destroyed
  • You try to delete a building, and it losses 100 hp per second
  • You try to delete a building, and it gives 1 raze to all enemies
  • You try to delete a building, and it gives raze if any enemy is near the building
  • You try to delete a building, and it doesn't get destroyed if any enemy unit is near
  • You try to delete a building, and autoresign

Ideas which are not listed in poll:
  • If a building is damaged it cannot be deleted.
  • You try to delete a building, and it doesn't get destroyed if any enemy unit is near except walls
  • You try to delete a building, you lose 1 raze, or kills, or all villagers


In before somebody suggest "why no poll option to keep it as it now" this won't be a forced feature like 1.4RC game records. It will be run as game mod or custom patch, so host can decide he want it or not.

1. 20 precious seconds wasted while waiting for something to get deleted
2. same as first option
3. deleting back gates/castles for build space would result in giving free razes or even just buildings you placed wrong so this simply wont work
4. same problem as option 3 as the enemy cant always get the raze but it might be badly placed by the player
5. this looks like the best option out of all

7. let the players deal with it them self instead of babysitting bunch of babies that cry for attention every time somebody does something naughty towards them

#5 It shouldnt count for walls because they arnt considered razings anyway.

Personally for an anti delete mod I would keep it simple. I suggested this a long time ago.
This is more for CBA type scenarios.

If a building is damaged it cannot be deleted.
If any enemy units are within "X" tiles of the building it cannot be deleted.

The above will allow players to switch from one building to another, so not alter game play too much.

It will help to minimize any delete to stop a raze while keeping very simple rules easily understood.

But if damaged they can still delete on that option.

You should not allow any damaged building to be deleted, even if no enemy is near.

disagree.

Dan already said that many people delete the Castles in CBA to build more stables/archery in late game since the castles become rather useless. If you have been rushed earlier in such game your castles may be heavily damaged and would require complete repair before you could delete them which would be really dumb. option #5 is perfect as it is imo.

These game modifications are merely for laughs/learning purposes and should never be considered officially.

Every a few months someone makes a mod that changes a significant function in the game and starts posting polls and threads demanding for it to become part of the default AoC on Voobly just for the sake of his own popularity.

Gallas, what you posted here is a disaster for this game, and it pains me more to see people seriously discussing it. Please think again before you post such non-sense. Your mods are excellent, but they are never meant to replace the original game.

What next? Allied vision made official?

Don't destroy what has been working for over 15 years.

So if you build in wrong place and want to delete it to rebuild you get punished. Complete garbage ideas all of them. Nobody is deleting anyways nowadays all used to no deleting unofficial rule
